Kedarkantha Trek is one of the popular winter treks in uttarakhand located in Govind wildlife sanctuary of Uttarkashi district in Uttarakhand
Many travellers chose this trek as their first himalayan trek due to its relative ease of access and gradual inclination.
Kedarkantha peak situated at an altitude of 12,500Ft is covered with a thick blanket of snow from Nov - Apr
Kedarkantha is a fun trek recommended for all adventure souls who like snow and high mountains,
The highlights of the Kedarkantha trek are the beautiful campsites,
snow-covered pine forests, 360-degree view of the mountains and the chance to stand on top of one of the easiest trekkable peaks in the Himalayas.
The total Kedarkantha trek distance is 23 Kms. You will get to see Godly peaks like Swargarohini, Black Peak, and Bandarpoonch during Kedarkantha and come back absolutely thrilled and refreshed.
Brief Itinerary:
Day 1: Board train from Hyderabad at 4 PM
Day 2: Reach Delhi and Board another train to Dehraduun
Day 3: Dehradund to Sankri
Day 4: Sankri to Juda-ka-Talab
Day 5: Juda-ka-Talab to Kedarkantha base
Day 6: Kedarkantha base to Kedarkantha Peak || Back to Sankri
Day 7: Sankri to Dehradun and Head to Delhi
Day 8: Dehradun - Delhi - Hyderabad
Day 9 Reach Hyderabad by 9 AM.
Day 1: Board train to Delhi
- Board train to Delhi (Trin timings will be informed once the train tickets have been booked)
Day 2: Board train to Delhi
- Reach Delhi .
- Explore Delhi on your own (If time permits)
- Board train to Dehradun.
Day 3: Dehradun to Sankri
- Start your Journey towards Dehradun. The journey is very scenic, where the drive curves through a dense pine forest.
Throughout the journey, you will be traversing the mountains and Yamuna, and the river of Tons which makes the journey a very beautiful experience. . - After reaching Sankri Our trek leaders will brief you about the next 3day trek in the Himalayas and distribute the rentals (If you have opted any)
- Enjoy a lip-smacking dinner.
- Distance: 150 KM || 5 to 6 hrs
- Altitude: Dehradun (2,087 ft) to Naugaon (5,100 ft)
- Stay: Sankri (Homestay - 5 or sharing)
Day 4: Naugaon to Sankri to Juda Ka Talab
- After having breakfast we will head towards Sankri by vehicle.
- We will start our trek from Sankri and start ascending towards Juda Ka Talab.
- En route, we will be passing through forests of oak, birch, and beautiful meadows.
- Reach Juda ka Talab. Juda Ka Talab is a small pond on the way to Kedarkantha peak It is one of the most
sought-after attractions in the Kedarkantha trek. - Juda Ka Talab remains frozen during winters. During the peak winter, the ice layer on the lake becomes so thick that
you can even walk over the frozen Juda ka Talab. - We will be camping for the night near Juda Ka Talab lake. Swargarohini peak is visible from here.
- Distance :
Drive: Naugaon to Sankri - 70Kms || 2 to 3Hrs
Trek Distance : Sankri to Juda Ka Talab - 4Kms || 4 to 5Hrs - Altitude: Sankri (6,455 ft) to Juda-ka-Talab (9,311 ft)
- Stay: Juda-ka-Talab (Tented - 3 or 4 sharing)
Day 5: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base
- After having a delicious breakfast Start the trek towards Kedrkantha base. Trek to the base follows a steeper gradient with
snow-lined patches and dense forests of Oak and Pine Trees. - Reach Kedarkantha base and enjoy the spectacular view around. If the weather is clear
we can witness the sunset as it is a spectacularly beautiful sight to see the mountains painted with golden hues. - Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch & Kalanag peaks can be seen from the base camp.
- Trek distance: 2.5 KM || 3 hrs
- Altitude: Juda-ka-Talab (9,311 ft) to Kedarkantha Base (11,253 ft)
- Stay: Kedarkantha base (Tented - 3 or 4 sharing)
Day 6: Kedarkantha base to Kedarkantha peak and back to Naugaon
- Start very early in the morning and start ascending towards Kedarkantha peak through the snow.
- Reach Kedarkantha peak and witness the breathtaking views of the Himalayas all around.
- Sunrise at the peak illuminates the meadows and all the beautiful peaks which leaves everyone mesmerized.
- From the summit, we can see the mountains of the Yamunotri and Gangotri range and also of the Kinner Kailash range and other ranges.
- After spending some time at the peak we will descend towards the base camp and then to Sankri via Juda Ka Talab.
- After reaching Sankri and transfer into a vehicle and reach Naugaon.
- Distance :
Trek distance: 14 KM || 7 hrs
Drive: 70 KM || 2 to 3 hrs - Altitude: Kedarkantha Base (11,253 ft) to Kedarkantha peak (12,500 ft); descend to Sankri (6,455 ft)
- Stay: Naugaon (Hotel - 3 or 4 sharing)
Day 7: Drive back to Dehradun
- We will leave the Homestay after taking a few good photos and we will head back to Dehradun via the same route we came. We will reach Dehradun airport by 4 PM.
- You can plan your journey as per that. (For people who opted only for the trek)
- Explore Robbers cave enroute.
- Distance: 150 KM || 5 to 6 hrs
- Stay: Dehradun(Hotel- 3 or 4 sharing)
Day 8: Dehradun - Delhi - Hyderabad
- Board train to Delhi in the morning.
- Reach Delhi and Board another train to Hyderabad.
Day 9: Reach Hyderabad
By Air:
Nearest airport: Dehradun.
Dehradun airport is connected to most of the metro cities in India. GoAdventure vehicle will pick you up from the airport itself. If you come at different timings, there are few hotels availbale nearby
By Rail:
The nearest railway stations are Dehradun or Haridwar. GoAdvneture regular pick up is from Dehradun railway station. You can also take a connecting train from Haridwar to Dehradun
By road:
Delhi to Dehradun/Rishikesh: there are many bus services available. (AC, Non AC, Sleeper & Semi sleeper)
Cost-effective: You can take a flight to Delhi. Delhi to Dehradun a connecting train.
From Dehradun to Sankri: We will be providing a Tempo traveler, Bolero / Similar.
