The Kuari pass means the Doorway. This trek was explored by Lord Curzon and is also knows as the Curzon trail. The pass lies at an altitude of 3876 m. The trek passes through Pristine Rhododendron, oak, and deodar forest covered in layers of snow. The Kuari Pass trek is a highly varied & scenic trek. When on this trail you find yourself walking under a perfect marquee of trees. It is a series of forests and meadows. The peaks of Kamet, Dronagiri, Trishul, Bertholi, Hathi Ghodi Parvat, Mana and Neelkanth all stand majestically. The Kuari pass trek is a great choice for beginners as well as well trained trekkers. Since the trail of the trek is not very tough the beginners have a chance to learn all about trekking and experience the Himalayas. For more seasoned trekkers, Kuari pass trek is the best way to rejuvenate. Kuari Pass trek best time is from December to March as the entire trail is covered in snow.
Day 1 : Rishikesh to Joshimath
Day 2 : Joshimath to Gulling top/Akhrotghetta
Day 3 : Guling to Khullara
Day 4 : Khullara to Chitrakantha/Tali via Kuari Pass
Day 5 : Chitrakantha/Tali to Auli
Altitude: 11,503 ft (3,506 m) to 8,790 ft (2,679 m)
Time taken: 4-5 hours
Trek gradient: Moderate. Gradual ascent for about 40 minutes followed by a 20 minutes steep climb. Around 45 minutes of gradual ascent which eases off into a descending trail for about 3 hours.
