Another renowned attraction that Chikmagalur is known for is its Bababudan Giri ranges. Though it was among the underexplored destinations, the hill station thanks to its picturesque landscapes and greenery has earned a lot of attention from tourists across. The literal meaning of Chikmagalur is ‘Land of the younger daughter.’
There is a rich history attached to how Chikmagalur got its name. It is said that years ago the land of this district was given as a dowry to the younger daughter of a legendary chief who ruled Sakrepatna- Rukmangada. And that is how it was named. Chikmagalur as rugged terrains, stunning mountain regions and also has lowlands. Because it is situated amidst beautiful landscapes and untouched environs, this is one destination that you must explore. There is also a local belief that coffee was first made in Chikmagalur. Ask the locals here and they will tell you that Babu Budan who was a Muslim saint brought the coffee seeds in 1670 from Yemen and cultivated them here. And from there on the plantations just grew and the British also played a big role in the growth. You will also find the Central Coffee Research Institution here.
Apart from all this, the waterfalls of this region also have attracted travelers. There are many waterfalls located in this district like the famous Hebbe falls, Shanti waterfalls and several others.

2:00 PM - Explore Jhari Waterfalls
Once you reach Jhari Waterfalls, take some time to relax and marvel at the beauty of this cascading waterfall. You can take a refreshing dip in the cool waters if permitted and enjoy the serene atmosphere of the falls.
3:30 PM - Head to Mullayangiri
Mullayanagiri Sunset: Head to catch the sunset at Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka. The drive from Chikmagalur to Mullayanagiri takes approximately 30 to 45 Minutes. Once you reach the base, you can either hike or take a jeep ride to the peak. Witness the breathtaking sunset over the mist-covered hills and enjoy the panoramic views from the top.
6:00 PM - Arrive at hirekolale lake. After Sunset, lunch, make your way to Herokalike Lake, located approximately 10 kilometers from Chikmagalur. The drive takes around 20 hours. Spend some time by the serene lake, enjoy the tranquillity, and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.
7:20 PM - Check-in, Dinner, and Relaxation
Have dinner at a local eatery or your accommodation, where you can savor some authentic local cuisine. Afterward, unwind and relax under the starry sky, enjoying the peaceful ambiance of the village.

Proceed to Belur to visit the famous Belur Temple, which is around 30 kilometers away and takes approximately 1 hour to reach. Explore the exquisite architecture and intricate carvings of the Hoysala-era temple dedicated to Lord Chennakesava. Arrive at Belur Chennakeshava Temple, located in the Hassan district of Karnataka. Leave Belur and head towards Kemmanagundi.

6:00 PM: Leave Hebbe Waterfalls and start your journey back to our stay (e.g., Chikmagalur).
8:00 PM: Arrive at your destination
5.00 AM: Depart For Coorg. Depart early in the morning to make the most of your day. Breakfast on the go, Carry some light snacks and water for breakfast to enjoy during the drive from Chikmagalur.
10:00 AM: Visit TalaKaveri
Arrive at TalaKaveri, located in the Brahmagiri Hills. Explore the temple dedicated to Goddess Kaveri and witness the sacred water source of the River Kaveri. Enjoy the serene surroundings and take in the spiritual significance of the place.
01:00 PM: Visit Namdroling Monastery
Namdroling Monastery After Breakfast, make your way to the Namdroling Monastery in Bylakuppe. The drive from Mysore to Namdroling Monastery takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Explore the serene surroundings, marvel at the intricate Tibetan architecture, and witness the peaceful atmosphere of the monastery.
1:45 PM: Take a break for lunch at a local restaurant or eatery in Madikeri. Savour some traditional Coorg cuisine or any other delicacies of your choice.
2:00 PM: Proceed to Dubare Elephant Camp
Travel to Dubare Elephant Camp 3:00 PM): After spending an hour at the Namdroling Monastery, start your journey to Dubare Camp. The drive to Dubare Camp takes around 20 Minutes hours. Enjoy the scenic beauty and lush greenery of the region as you make your way to the camp. Upon reaching Dubare Camp, you can indulge in various activities centered around elephants and nature. Feed and interact with the elephants, take part in bathing them, and learn about their conservation efforts. You can also enjoy a boat ride or explore the surrounding forest if time permits.
05:30 PM: Explore Raja Seat
Reach Raja Seat, a beautiful garden located in Madikeri. Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and hills from the garden's elevated location. Enjoy & Relax in the expansive views while taking in the magnificent sunset over the mist-covered hills.
8:00 PM: Arrive at your destination
Day 4
Mandalpatti Sunrise: Start your day very early to witness the beautiful sunrise at Mandalpatti in Coorg. Leave your accommodation at least an hour before sunrise to reach Mandalpatti. The drive to the Mandalpatti viewpoint takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours from Coorg. Once you reach the base, you can either hike or take a jeep ride to the viewpoint. From the top, enjoy the breathtaking sunrise over the Western Ghats and the panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes.
Breakfast: Carry some light snacks or Packed breakfast and water for breakfast to enjoy during the drive from Mandalpatti's picturesque landscapes. Wrap up the Jeep safari and head back to Coorg.
9:30 AM: Visit Abbey Waterfalls
Arrive at Abbey Waterfalls, located near Madikeri in Coorg. Take a short trek to reach the waterfall and enjoy the scenic beauty and refreshing ambiance. Spend some time capturing photographs and rejuvenating amidst nature. Depart from Abbey Waterfalls around 10.30 AM
1.30 PM: Explore Mysore Palace
Explore the Mysore Palace and learn about its rich history and architectural beauty. Take a guided tour or explore the palace grounds at your own pace.
3:30 PM: Depart to Bangalore
Leave Mysore Palace and start your journey to Bangalore. The drive from Bangalore takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.
06:30 PM: Arrival at Bangalore.
Reach Bangalore and Board Bus to respective destinations
Tip: While packing, you can use plastic bags to compartmentalize things and carry a few extra plastic bags for wet clothes. Maintain separate bags for used tissues & napkins & then dispose of them properly.
