CHIKMAGALUR:

Chikmagalur is a picturesque district situated in the western part of Karnataka. It is mostly popular for its coffee plantations and a soothing climate. Another renowned attraction that Chikmagalur is known for is its Bababudan Giri ranges. Though it was among the underexplored destinations, the hill station thanks to its picturesque landscapes and greenery has earned a lot of attention from tourists across. The literal meaning of Chikmagalur is ‘Land of the younger daughter.’
There is a rich history attached to how Chikmagalur got its name. It is said that years ago the land of this district was given as a dowry to the younger daughter of a legendary chief who ruled Sakrepatna- Rukmangada. And that is how it was named. Chikmagalur as rugged terrains, stunning mountain regions and also has lowlands. Because it is situated amidst beautiful landscapes and untouched environs, this is one destination that you must explore. There is also a local belief that coffee was first made in Chikmagalur. Ask the locals here and they will tell you that Babu Budan who was a Muslim saint brought the coffee seeds in 1670 from Yemen and cultivated them here. And from there on the plantations just grew and the British also played a big role in the growth. You will also find the Central Coffee Research Institution here.
Apart from all this, the waterfalls of this region also have attracted travelers. There are many waterfalls located in this district like the famous Hebbe falls, Shanti waterfalls and several others.


Day 0: Hyderabad to Bangalore/Mysuru – Overnight Journey

Overnight Train Journey

Day 1: Arrival at Bangalore/Mysuru – Explore Coorg

Upon arrival at Bangalore in the early morning 06:00 AM or Mysuru by 9:30 AM, our representative will receive you and begin the journey towards the beautiful hill station of Coorg. After freshening up and enjoying breakfast, proceed to explore some of Coorg's most popular attractions.

Visit the magnificent Golden Temple (Namdroling Monastery), one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India, known for its stunning architecture and peaceful atmosphere. Continue to the famous Elephant Camp, where you can witness and interact with these gentle giants in their natural surroundings.

In the evening, head to Raja's Seat, a picturesque viewpoint offering breathtaking views of the Western Ghats and mesmerizing sunset scenery. Spend some leisure time exploring the local markets and shopping for Coorg's famous spices, coffee, and handmade products.

Overnight Stay in Coorg

Day 2: Coorg – Mandalpatti Peak – Chikmagalur

Start your day early and get ready for an adventurous experience. After freshening up, proceed towards Mandalpatti Peak, one of Coorg's most scenic viewpoints. Enjoy an exciting jeep ride through rugged terrain and witness spectacular panoramic views of mist-covered hills and valleys.

Later, visit the beautiful Abbey Falls, surrounded by lush coffee plantations and dense greenery. Spend some time soaking in the beauty of the cascading waterfalls before beginning your journey towards Chikmagalur.

En route, visit the historic Belur Temple, a masterpiece of Hoysala architecture renowned for its intricate carvings and cultural significance. Continue to Yagachi Dam, where adventure enthusiasts can enjoy various water sports and recreational activities.

After a fun-filled day, check in to your accommodation in Chikmagalur and relax.

Overnight Stay in Chikmagalur

Day 3: Mullayanagiri Trek – Jhari Falls – Return Journey

Wake up early and prepare for the highlight of the trip. Proceed towards Mullayanagiri Peak, the highest peak in Karnataka, famous for its breathtaking landscapes and trekking trails. Enjoy a thrilling jeep ride followed by a memorable trek through the misty mountains and scenic viewpoints.

After completing the trek, visit the beautiful Jhari Falls, often referred to as the "Buttermilk Falls" due to its milky white appearance. Surrounded by dense forests and coffee estates, it offers a perfect spot to relax and capture stunning photographs.

Later, proceed towards the railway station and board your return train with unforgettable memories of Karnataka's most beautiful hill stations.

Day 4: Arrival at Hyderabad
