Coorg and Chikmaguluru Trip from Hyderbad and Bangalore

Situated in the midst of forcing mountains in Karnataka with a never-endingly hazy scene, Coorg is a well known coffee delivering hill station. It is famous for its lovely green hills and the streams slicing directly through them. It additionally remains as a famous objective due to its way of life and individuals. Coorg, formally known as Kodagu, is the most prosperous hill station in Karnataka. It is notable for its amazingly colorful view and rich vegetation. CHIKMAGALUR:

Chikmagalur is a picturesque district situated in the western part of Karnataka. It is mostly popular for its coffee plantations and a soothing climate. Another renowned attraction that Chikmagalur is known for is its Bababudan Giri ranges. Though it was among the underexplored destinations, the hill station thanks to its picturesque landscapes and greenery has earned a lot of attention from tourists across. The literal meaning of Chikmagalur is ‘Land of the younger daughter.’
There is a rich history attached to how Chikmagalur got its name. It is said that years ago the land of this district was given as a dowry to the younger daughter of a legendary chief who ruled Sakrepatna- Rukmangada. And that is how it was named. Chikmagalur as rugged terrains, stunning mountain regions and also has lowlands. Because it is situated amidst beautiful landscapes and untouched environs, this is one destination that you must explore. There is also a local belief that coffee was first made in Chikmagalur. Ask the locals here and they will tell you that Babu Budan who was a Muslim saint brought the coffee seeds in 1670 from Yemen and cultivated them here. And from there on the plantations just grew and the British also played a big role in the growth. You will also find the Central Coffee Research Institution here.
Apart from all this, the waterfalls of this region also have attracted travelers. There are many waterfalls located in this district like the famous Hebbe falls, Shanti waterfalls and several others.


Friday - Hyderabad to Shimoga Bus 

Boarding at MGBS station at 7 PM 

DAY-1 - Shimoga to Chikmagalur by private bus 

  • Reach Shimoga/Guaribidanur and quick freshen up and get into a private vehicle.
    1. You will not get time to change your dress till we reach Hebbe Falls; so wear your desired clothes before boarding the bus itself.

    2. Don't forget to carry polythene covers to pack your wet clothes.

  • Places to visit
    • Hebbe falls: We will be traveling by jeep for 30 min and followed by a 1 km walk to reach waterfalls. We can get into the water here.
    • Kemmanagundi: its beautifully laid-out ornamental gardens, enchanting mountains and valleys views
    • Z point peak: Get ready for some mesmerizing views from the Peak we will be here for sunset.

DAY-2 - Chikmagalur sightseeing 

We will start our day pretty early and packup from our hotel in Chikmagalur and head to Coorg.

1.Carry an extra pair of clothes if you want to get into water again in Jhari waterfalls

2.You might encounter leeches so carry packet of turmeric or salt just in case. Once you sprinkle turmeric/salt over a leech, it'll leave your skin and  will fall to the ground.

3.Be prepared to walk for a couple of kilometres today.

Places to visit

  • Hirekolale lake: We'll be here for the Morning nature walk.
  • Mullayangiri peak: Mullyangiri is the highest peak of Chikmagalur.
  • Jhari falls: Jhari wateralls are also known as buttermilk falls. You can get into water here

DAY-3 - Coorg sightseeing 

  • Have Breakfast and freshen up at the Restaurant and continue our journey towards Coorg sightseeing .

Places to visit

  • Dubare elephant camp 
  • Golden temple The Namdroling Monastery, popularly referred to as 'The Golden Temple' is one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India.
  • Around 3 PM, we will head to Mysore to board our Sleeper Train back to Hyderabad

Day -4- Arrival to Hyderabad 

  • We will reach Hyderabad by 8 AM.

Clothing & Footwear

  • Walking/Sports/Trekking shoe. (Please make sure that you are using soft rubber-sole footwear)
  • A pair of sandals/ flip-flops
  • 30-40 L backpack (Do not carry suitcases or trolleys)
  • Sleeping bag (You can replace it by a thin blanket or bed-sheet if you don't want to invest in a sleeping bag)
  • 3 pairs of quick-dry clothing. (Please wear one pair on Friday night before coming to the railway station. You'll not get an opportunity to change during our travel.)
  • 3 pairs of socks

Food & Beverage

  • Min 2 liters of water each (Please bring reusable water bottles so that together we can discourage the use of plastic on the trails)
  • Snacks (Carry plenty of dry snacks, energy bars, candies & ORS to munch on during the trek)

  • Headtorch / Hand-held torch (Avoid mobile flashlights.)
  • Medicines (If you have any health issues. Please ensure that you inform our trek leaders beforehand.)
