Aadrai Forest Trek , Kallu Falls & Harischandragad trek in monsoon


Harishchandragad is situated in the Malshej region in the state of Maharashtra. This is one of the fun-filled trek, loved by most of the trek lovers. This is situated at a height of 4650 ft. This fort has multiple entry routes like the Panchai, which is the easiest rote to ascend. The Khireshwar route, which is graded as the moderate and the Nalichi was, which is the most difficult route. All the beginners choose the trail that starts from Pachnai. Khireshwar route is suitable for those who already have some trek experience.

Konkankada, a cliff in Maharashtra acts as a special attraction, while you are ascending. This is at an altitude of 4665 ft from the sea level. This place have a beautiful view from the top as you can witness the glory of the nature filled with beauty, calmness and breath taking. This is a C-shaped cliff, where you can touch the flow of the water passing through your feet. Sunset from this place is eye-catching.

Here, we hike up to the highest peak called Taramathi Peak. Make this experience count as this is close to heart. From the highest peek, you can witness the joy where you are at height , enjoying the cool breeze touching your skin, which automatically brings a smile on your face.This peak is a highly graded peak and a must visit place.

After you ascend to a great height, you can see historical  temples, called the Harishchandreshwar temple and the Kedareshwar temple, both of Lord shiva. In Harishchandreshwar temple you can experience the atmosphere of live poojas, whereas in Kedareshwar temple, the temple is inside the caves, where you can see lord shiva resting in the water. Here, you can swim in the water to reach the lord, the water level would be upto chest level. All this gives you immense joy and pleasure, by even knowing the history of the temple, which says the four pillars of the temple are four yogas and now currently the temple is withstanding on only a single pillar and that pillar is significantly believed as the Kaliyug.

The Aadrai trek is one of the best places to trek in India, loved by most of the trek lovers. So all the brave folks, buckle up for an amazing trek with jungle experience. The Aadrai trail is 130 kms away from Pune, which would take around 4 hours to trek. This trek is spectacular as it gives you the joy and pleasure with a forest experience, with the smell of the moist soil, cool breeze, chirping birds, great flora and fauna. One of the most exhilarating treks as the forest is dense. This gives you a thrilling experience.

The sunset and the sunrise here are splendid and gives you that warmth feeling as you sit there and relax. The rays of the sun falling on you, where you sit and close your eyes and listen to the waterfall roaring sounds, all these gives happiness to your soul. This trail can be remembered as you are walking through the canopies of large trees. 
 


 


Hyderabad to Pune by train (Day 0)

Board the train at Hyderabad at night and reach Pune the next morning.
While you pack your bags, also pack some energy and excitement for a good trek. Also carry snacks, energy bars, and water bottles along. 
Your guide will meet you at the station/ at your designated seats.

Kalu waterfalls Trek (Day 1)

  • Difficulty: Easy to moderate
  • Distance: 4-6 kilometers (round trip)
  • Duration: 4-5 hours

Arrive at Pune Railway Station in the morning. From there, board your pre-arranged private vehicle for the journey to the lunch point, approximately 130 km away, which should take around 3 hours. Upon arrival, enjoy a pre-ordered Maharashtrian thali meal at a local eatery.
After lunch, continue your drive for about 1 hour to reach Kalu Base Village, covering a distance of approximately 40 km. This scenic drive offers glimpses of the lush Western Ghats.​Begin your trek to Kalu Waterfall from the base village. The trek involves crossing two streams, with the second crossing being the Kalu River, which may require assistance during the monsoon season. The journey to the waterfall's base takes about 2 hours, covering a distance of approximately 6 km. The waterfall cascades in five stages, with the lowest part known as God's Valley, offering breathtaking views.

After spending time at the waterfall, retrace your steps back to Kalu Base Village, which should take around 2 hours. Upon arrival, freshen up and prepare for dinner.​
Enjoy a hearty dinner at a local establishment, savoring more of the regional cuisine. Afterward, retire for the night at a nearby accommodation or your vehicle, depending on your arrangements.

Harishchandragad Trek and Konkankada (Day 2)

  • Difficulty: Moderate to Challenging
  • Distance: 12-14 kilometers (round trip)
  • Duration: 9-10 hours (including breaks and summit time)

Start your day with a quick breakfast and prepare for the Harishchandragad trek, which begins directly from your stay. The trek to the top takes around 4 to 5 hours through scenic and challenging terrain. Once you reach the summit, explore key highlights such as the Konkan Kada, known for its dramatic cliff views and strong winds, the ancient Harishchandreshwar Temple with its unique architecture, and the serene Kedareshwar Cave, which houses a Shiva Linga surrounded by water. Take plenty of pictures and enjoy your packed lunch while soaking in the panoramic views and peaceful atmosphere.

After spending quality time at the top, begin your descent, which will take approximately 3 to 4 hours. Upon reaching the stay, freshen up or take a bath to relax. A hearty non-veg thali will be served for dinner to help you refuel. In the evening, join the group activities conducted by the trek leader – a great way to bond and unwind after the day’s adventure. By around 10:00 PM, it's time to rest and get a good night's sleep.

Aadrai Jungle Trek (Day 3)

  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
  • Distance: 6 kilometers (round trip)
  • Duration: 3 hours

Wake up early and freshen up quickly to begin the day. At sharp 5:00 AM, you'll start the Aadrai Forest Trek, which also includes a breathtaking visit to the Aadrai Viewpoint and the Kalu Top View. This trail takes you deep into the lush forest, offering a magical experience with dense greenery, misty paths, and hidden waterfalls. From the Aadrai viewpoint, you'll get a spectacular view of the Kalu Waterfall, one of the tallest and most scenic falls in the region — a perfect spot for nature lovers and photography.

After completing the trek, return to the stay to freshen up and enjoy a well-deserved breakfast. Once done, pack up and hop into the private vehicle to begin your journey from Khireshwar to the lunch point, which is approximately 150 km away and takes over 4 hours to reach. We'll halt for lunch at a spot close to the railway station, allowing you some time to relax before the next leg of the journey. After lunch, you'll board the train back to Hyderabad, wrapping up the adventure with a heart full of memories.
