Lohagad Fort

Lohagad is an ideal trek for beginners, as it is rated as one of the easiest treks. The route for Lohagad fort trek is very easy and comfortable even when it rains. If any one want to trek for the first time, with a good trek satisfaction, then this is the best place to trek. The lush green mountains, cool breeze, panaromic view, sceneries, all these make the trek even more fantastic. Most beautiful place to explore and experience the sight of several waterfalls too.

This fort is one of the ancient forts of Maharashtra, situated close to the hills. The geography of the fort is unique. It rises to an elevation of 3,389 ft above sea level. The range of this fort divides and branches the plummets of Indrayani river and Panina lake. During monsoons, the Lohagad fort top is covered by fog, mist and clouds and becomes moist and wet, making the land slippery to trek. 

Khandala view point

Khandala Ghat view point is one of the beautiful point with greenery. It is a hill station in the western ghats in the state of Maharashtra. The best time to visit this place is during the monsoons, as in this season the beauty and serenity of the place hits different. Khandala is special for its view points, sceneries, waterfalls, caves, mountains etc. The Khandala view point gives a special attraction to the tourists extending unparalleled beauty.

Visapur trek

Visapur fort is a fort near Visapur village in Maharashtra. It is a part of Lohagad fort. Visapur fort trek difficulty can be considered as a moderately graded trek, good option for trek learners and beginners. There are three routes to ascend the fort, where one can choose any of the three and climb to the top around 2-3 hrs. One can trek with energy and excitement only for knowing the Visapur Fort history.

Each and everyone can enjoy the trek experience especially during the monsoons as the shores and the rains make the place even more beautiful as there is water gushing through your path as you ascend.

Pawna Lake

Pawna lake is one of the beautiful lakes in Maharashtra, where you can see the colour of the lake to be blue as the reflection of the clouds and the sky fall on it. It is a very peaceful place close to nature. This lake is also a source of drinking water and is famous for its beautiful location as the water in the lake comes from the rain. Pawna lake camping is one of the pleasant ways to get connected and lost as there is a melodious sound produce from the cool breeze.

Hyderabad to Lonavala by Train (Day 0)

Board the train at Hyderabad (8:40 PM)/ BEGUMPET (8:49 PM)/ Lingampally (9:12 PM). Reach the station on time. While you pack your backpacks, also pack some energy and excitement for a good trek. Carry water bottles and snacks.

Your guide will meet you at the station/ at your designated seats.

Trek to Lohagad Fort (Day 1)

Wakeup early. Fresh up and have some morning talks with your fellow passengers. We will reach Lonavala Railway Station by 10 AM. After getting down the train, you can have breakfast at the nearby restaurant. (You can also use restrooms and change your outfits). Then, we will board the private vehicle hired only for GoAdventure. After a 30 minute travel in the vehicle, we will reach the Khandala view point, where one can witness the beauty and serenity of the gush of the cascading waterfalls, I Love Mumbai and I Love Khandala photo booth points, where you can click pictures. Food stalls can also be found, where you can taste the food of Maharashtra. The view point gives a special attraction to the tourists as it is a treat to the eyes.

Here, you can also find a a ladder, where you can climb the ladder to witness the beauty of Lonavala and Khandala from a higher altitude. This view point is fantastic and significant. All these places are very close to each other, so we can visit them by having a short drive.

From here, after a 1 hr drive, we will reach the parking lot of Lohagad Fort. The trek to Lohagad fort is ideal for beginners. The route and the way to Lohagad fort is easy and comfortable to trek. It takes approximately 20 minutes to ascend, with only few steps. You can also see many smaller waterfalls flowing from the rocks down the stream. The Lohagad fort top is a plateau, with a unique style and architecture. We can spend 2-3 hours there, as you can explore the place with all energy and happiness. The curiosity you get to see more scenic views makes you to explore and discover new things. You can also witness the beauty of Reverse Waterfalls especially during the monsoon.

We can click some good pictures and then head back to the vehicle. You are free to have lunch here at the parking lot, where you can find many food courts of Maharashtrian food. After having lunch, we would go to Pawna Lake. Here, you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the beautiful; lake and also some birds chirping, which gives you peace and happiness, and also connects you close to the nature.

Here, you can do some fun-filled water activities which are joyous. You can also have a short evening walk to enjoy the glory of the sunset. From there, we will go to the campsite. This is going to be a premium campsite with good amenities. (Bedsheets, blankets, pillows etc are provided and good washrooms are available).Then you can have your dinner provided by GoAdventures. The dinner would be a Maharashtrian thali with some authentic flavours. Here, you can enjoy the DJ and good music and enjoy the night with some entertainment and camp fire. You can also sit together and share your travel experiences with your friends and fellow trekkers. Then end your day with a good sleep.

Visapur Trek (Day 2)

Wakeup in the morning, with good and positive vibes and a wide smile. Just close your eyes and listen to the nature keenly, where you can hear many beautiful things not only by seeing but also by hearing. The birds chirping, the sound of the cool breeze, the waterfalls roaring, all these makes your morning a beautiful one. Then have your breakfast provided by GoAdventure. Breakfast would usually include Poha and Tea. After having breakfast, checkout from the campsite, by packing all your luggages and bags. From there, we would head towards Visapur by trekking.

Visapur Fort near Visapur village, which is a sister fort of Lohagad. Trek to this fort can be considered as a moderately graded trek, one of the good options for beginners. Here you can enjoy the glory of the nature. Each and everyone can enjoy the trek by knowing the history of the Visapur fort. Especially, during the monsoons, this trek would be even more special and beautiful as there will be water gushing through your path as you ascend.

After spending around 2 hours there, we would start our return journey to the Lonavala Railway Station. On the way to the station, we would stop for a lunch break, where you can have the food of your choice. Then board the train to Hyderabad as the trip has come to an end.


 


Clothing & Footwear

  • Walking/Sports/Trekking shoe. (Please make sure that you are using soft rubber-sole footwear)
  • 30-40 L backpack (Do not carry suitcases or trolleys)
  • Sleeping bag (You can replace it with a thin blanket or bed-sheet if you don't want to invest in a sleeping bag)
  • 3 pairs of quick-dry clothing. (Please wear one pair on Friday night before coming to the railway station. You'll not get an opportunity to change during our travel.)
  • 3 pairs of socks
  • Raincoat, rain cover for your bag, zip-lock pouches for mobiles

Food & Beverage

  • Min 2 liters of water each (Please bring reusable water bottles so that together we can discourage the use of plastic on the trails)
  • Snacks (Carry plenty of dry snacks, energy bars, candies & ORS to munch on during the trek)
