Rajmachi fort

Rajmachi is the place where one can experience immense surrounding natural beauty of the Mother Nature. It is the best place to visit, if you are a nature lover. Rajmachi Trek is the trek between Lonavala and Karjat, which are the two popular hill stations of Maharashtra. The trek is a 16 km long trek, where you can not only enjoy the scenaries and view points, but also can feel the sight of Waterfalls. River Ulhasnagar streams it’s water droplets from the gaps of the mountains and hills.

The fort is at an elevation of 2750 ft. Kondhana Caves can be found as a special attraction. Rajmachi consists of 2 forts, Shivadharan and Manaranjan. So, all the brave folks, trek lovers and mountain climbers will explore the heritage of these historical forts of Maharashtra. The architecture, the breeze touching your skin, the greenery, the valleys, beautiful waterfalls, structured caves, lush green mountains, all these make you forget your past and future and make sure you live in the present and live for the moment. The best time to visit Rajmachi is from June to November. During monsoon, it is a bit difficult. Therefore, winter is the best time, as it has the best weather, easy to walk and trek conveniently.

Lonavala and Khandala

Khandala view point is one of the beautiful points filled with greenery. It is a hill station in the western ghats in the state of Maharashtra. The best time to visit this place is during the monsoons, as in this season the beauty and serenity of the place hits different. Khandala is special for its view points, waterfalls, sceneries, mountains and hills etc. The Khandala view point gives a special attraction to the tourists extending unparalleled beauty.

Visapur trek

Visapur Fort is a fort near Visapur village in Maharashtra. It is a part of Lohagad Fort. Trek to this fort is considered as a moderately graded trek, good option for trek learners and beginners. There are three routes to ascend the fort, where one can choose any of the three and climb the fort around 1-2 hrs. One can trek with energy and excitement only by knowing the history of the fort.


 


Hyderabad to Pune by train (Day 0)

Board the train at Hyderabad at night and reach Pune the next morning.
While you pack your bags, also pack some energy and excitement for a good trek. Also carry snacks, energy bars, and water bottles along. 
Your trek-lead will meet you at the station/ at your designated seats.

Pune to Rajmachi (Day 1)

  • Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
  • Distance: 4 kilometers 
  • Duration: 3-4 hours

As the train arrives at Pune Railway Station, complete your morning routines early to enjoy the scenic Pune to Lonavala route.
Once at the base, leave behind non-essentials and carry your trek gear—water bottles, clothes, energy bars, and shoes. A trek leader will guide the group, sharing insights about the trail. The first stop is the Kondhane Caves, an easy 4-hour trek, known for their beautiful Buddhist architecture. Nearby, the Ulhas River offers a refreshing break.
We’ll continue the scenic trek to reach Udhewadi village by dusk, where common washrooms and a local dinner await. After dinner, enjoy some group games before resting for the night in the peaceful village setting.

Rajmachi Trek and Pawna Camping (Day 2)

  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Distance: 3 kilometers (round trip)
  • Duration: 1.5–2 hours (round trip)

At 4:00 AM, your trek leader will give you a wake-up call to begin the early morning trek to Rajmachi Fort. After a quick fresh-up, the group will start the ascent from Udhewadi village, reaching the fort in about 50 minutes. The trail will be surrounded by misty weather, cool breeze, and lush greenery, making the morning climb absolutely magical. After spending time at the top soaking in the scenic views and clicking a few pictures, we’ll descend back to the village filled with a sense of peace and accomplishment.
Once back in the village, a light breakfast of poha and tea. From there, we’ll proceed towards Lonavala and head to the Khandala viewpoint, a spot known for its waterfalls, panoramic valley views, and vibrant photo booths like I Love Khandala. You’ll also find local food stalls where you can taste more Maharashtrian street snacks. A short ladder climb offers a breathtaking elevated view of the entire Lonavala-Khandala valley, making it a perfect photo stop.
After the viewpoint visit, we’ll continue through a scenic drive lined with hills, greenery, and refreshing breeze to our campsite, which offers basic yet comfortable amenities including washrooms. Dinner will be a delicious Maharashtrian thali, rich in local flavors. The evening will wind down with a campfire, music, and group bonding, allowing you to share stories and experiences with fellow travelers. After a relaxed evening, you’ll settle in for a well-earned rest under the stars.

Visapur Trek (Day 3)

  • Difficulty: Moderate
  • Distance: 4 kilometers (round trip)
  • Duration: 2–3 hours (round trip)

Wake up to a refreshing morning and enjoy the sounds of nature. After freshening up, have your breakfast. Pack your bags, check out from the campsite, and get ready for the Visapur Fort trek. It’s a scenic route, especially during monsoon. After exploring the fort, we will start our return journey to Railway Station.
On the way, we’ll stop for lunch. After the break, reach the station and board the train to Hyderabad.


 

 

 

 

 


Clothing & Footwear

  • Walking/Sports/Trekking shoe. (Please make sure that you are using soft rubber-sole footwear)
  • 30-40 L backpack (Do not carry suitcases or trolleys)
  • Sleeping bag (You can replace it with a thin blanket or bed-sheet if you don't want to invest in a sleeping bag)
  • 3 pairs of quick-dry clothing. (Please wear one pair on Friday night before coming to the railway station. You'll not get an opportunity to change during our travel.)
  • 3 pairs of socks
  • Raincoat, rain cover for your bag, zip-lock pouches for mobiles

Food & Beverage

  • Min 2 liters of water each (Please bring reusable water bottles so that together we can discourage the use of plastic on the trails)
  • Snacks (Carry plenty of dry snacks, energy bars, candies & ORS to munch on during the trek)
